It is an exciting insight behind the anonymous face of an online username. Las month we debuted with Microchip08. Hi there![change | change source]

Hello there Yotcmdr! I have noticed that you are an administrator on this site. I used to be a very active user on this site, but because of my most recent unsuccessful RfA, which was very dramatic, I decided to take a very long Wikibreak from this site and stopped editing here on this site all together. Before I left, I did not notice you editing on this site, so I just wanted to stop in and say hello to you as I do to every new user and administrator on this site that stays active. I will be editing on this site a lot from now on, so I hope to see you around this site :). Cheers, Razorflame 22:04, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello. You recently sent a message to this IP Address regarding vandalism to the United States Declaration of Independence. Template:UK-stub[change | change source]

Can your bot, User:Yotbot, create this template for me? TurboGolf 15:05, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Article creating using a bot[change | change source]

Hi there. Did you ask the community for consensus before you started creating stubs using your robot? Cheers, Razorflame 15:28, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Nope I didn't, I just warned on Simple Talk. He's not doing anything wrong. Just repetitive task, writting communes of France. Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 15:31, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
What program are you using to have a bot create articles for you? Cheers, Razorflame 15:32, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

On second thought, if you are going to be creating 30,000+ stub articles, I think that you need the community's approval first. That is just too many stub articles to create in a short period of time...I really think that you should ask what the community thinks of having a bot create articles for you first. Cheers, Razorflame 15:41, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Ok I'll ask on ST for approval. I'm using AWB, :D! Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 15:48, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
If you kinda get what I am saying, I would think that the people of this community would want a say in whether or not they want 30,000+ articles just appearing overnight :D. I believe that they do this over on EN.
How exactly do you get AWB to create articles for you lol? Cheers, Razorflame 15:50, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
I've no idea how I do it, I just do (I have hardly any experience with bots, but it's working for the moment!) I understand I need concensus, and hope I get it! Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 15:53, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
To tell you the truth, I am unsure about whether or not to have a bot create articles here on this site. Even though they are all hand checked before saving, mistakes happen, and I am also unsure about whether or not SEWP will benefit from nearly doubling the amount of articles that we have on this site. I have already voiced my concerns on Simple Talk, however, I am unsure about what I should vote. Cheers, Razorflame 16:00, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Please feel free to take your time in taking your decision (well not months! as I would like to continue) But I don't see the problem In doing this as they wouldn't literally be done overnight!Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 16:03, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, and Happy New Year![change | change source]

Thanks for the Barnstar! It's good to know that someone appreciates the time and effort. I like your Christmas signature too! Happy New Year, all the best for 2009, Peterdownunder (talk) 20:59, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Thank you! Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 21:00, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

French communes[change | change source]

Looking of your bot's adds, I see two issues. "Region" is not BE 1500 and should be linked and "Department" while it is BE 1500, is being used in a completely different definition than its general one. Department should be linked to Departments of France so people can understand what a department is. --Creol(talk) 07:00, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Yes, ok, I'll get him to add them. I'd just like to say, it was never pointed out to me when I did It manually. Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 10:09, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Your GA votes[change | change source]

Hi there Yot. In the four currently ongoing good article votes, you stated as a reason for oppose that they have red links. If you were to read the requirements for GAs, you would find that a few red links are acceptable. Therefore, I would like to ask you to reconsider your votes for the GAs. Thanks, Razorflame 20:14, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but for the article to be up to my standards, there musn't be any red links at all on the page for it to be a Good Article. Yotcmdr✼ Merry Christmas ! ✼ 21:51, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
I know that it is your decision, and I do honor that. I was just asking politely if you would reconsider. Thanks for sharing your standards with me :). Cheers, Razorflame 21:52, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Orange[change | change source]

I just removed your edit, but left the reference, as it is useful. I'm just letting you know why I removed your edit, in the interests of effective editing.

  • The fact that was stated about oranges being a good source of vitamin c was accurate, and did not need changing. The sentence was about oranges, not about which foods have the most.
  • Referring to an unrelated fruit (or any unrelated object or information) in the introduction is misplaced and simply distracting. It does not help the subject.
  • The added fact was not strictly accurate. There are not "lots" of fruits with higher vitamin c. Most of the ones that do have, tend to be rare (worldwide) e.g. the Camucamu, or only locally, or seasonally available, e.g. kiwi fruit, or are generally only available as a preserve, e.g. black currant juice. For this reason, oranges are a very widespread and very important source of vitamin c which is comparatively both easy to grow and easy to transport.
  • The addition falls into the category of "point scoring". It says "oh yes, everyone thinks oranges are high in c, BUT...." This type of editing might add facts but it disrupts continuity and therefore understanding.
eg If the intro of the article on the Black Widow spider says they have deadly venom, I could write in the intro "but not as deadly as the Blue Ringed Octopus, the Sydney Funnel Web, the Box Jellyfish, the Taipan or the Boomslang". This isn't going to help! A list of poisonous creatures needs these facts, but the article on a specific spider does not. Likewise, the article on vitamin c, and a list of foods high in vitamin c both need your fact, but the article on oranges does not, particularly not in the intro. A link to the list, on the other hand, is interesting and probably useful.

Amandajm (talk) 07:46, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

I have just added that website to the foot of the page with a more detailed title, so that people can look it up. Amandajm (talk) 08:04, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
In response to your message, You might choose to find the above offensive. But having reread it, I don't believe that it is and it certainly wasn't intended that way. Mentioning another unrelated and very little-known fruit in the second sentence of an article is poor editing, but instead of simply reverting your edit, I did you the courtesy of explaining why I had done it. I have a background in writing educational material for children and migrants. Simple Wiki might as well benefit from my experience.
If you want to add a fact like the one you included, then the right place isn't in the intro. You could insert in the body of the text "Some people think that oranges have the highest vitamin C of any fruit. This is not true....etc"
Amandajm (talk) 07:05, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Reply[change | change source]

Hello, Yottie. You have new messages at Razorflame's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

While my bot is making the Aube commune stubs, I cannot edit on Razorflame because if I were to try to log out, it would automatically stop making the commune pages. Also, I noticed that you created a Wikiproject France. I have already created the Wikiproject Geography, which already has a Wikiproject France in it. While I believe that you can have your Wikiproject as well, I just wanted to let you know about the more general Wikiproject that I created. Darkicebot (talk) 15:30, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I know your project exists (I'm part of it, and have met some onjectives). However, Wikiproject France is not just for geography, and it will be for anything concerning france. Literature, architecture, anything. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 15:36, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
I know that Wikiproject France should be for everything, and your page looks all nice and tidy, so I will change the part about Wikiproject France in my project to link to your project ;). Cheers, Darkicebot (talk) 15:39, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Yo, you want Yotbot to finish the remainder of the Aube department? I could post the remainder of the list on here if you would like to finish it. It is running very slowly for me, so I am thinking that maybe if you were to run Yotbot, maybe he could get them completed faster? Cheers, Darkicebot (talk) 16:11, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

I don't mind, I'm just finishing something off here, so I'd do it in a few minutes. Thanks, Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 16:12, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
I've put the list in your userspace at User:Yotcmdr/List of communes or something like that. Cheers, Razorflame 16:51, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Curitiba[change | change source]

Hello, had a more in-depth look at Curitiba yesterday; The article needs a serious copyediting. There are some "stylistic mishaps", which look like direct translations from Portuguese or Spanish. Also, most of the time, sentences are too long, and a sentence can be split into two or three sentences. --Eptalon (talk) 09:34, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

RfA nom[change | change source]

Hi Yotcmdr. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for offering to be my nominator for my RfA. However, due to many reasons in my previous RfAs (such as maturity) I believe I am not ready for the job here yet and as for now the only place I wish to be an admin at is the simple wikiquote. I thank you thank you thank you and hope to talk to you soon. ѕwirlвoy  22:52, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm sad to here it, hopping to be able to nom' you if the time comes. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 06:17, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Why[change | change source]

Hello there, Yotcmdr. Why do you alway put :D on to the end of your posts? TurboGolf 06:52, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

It's eyes and a mouth, :D. (Yotty at school, getting very bored). 86.214.169.206 (talk) 13:09, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Re: Stupid RfA votes[change | change source]

Does not tagging any articles for QD or not having any VIP reports fall into this categoey? TurboGolf 18:14, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

The problem is some people used it as an only reason against someone and opposed him (he had around 35 QD's and 5 VIP's) but they supported another candidate with 12 qd's and 1 vip. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 18:21, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Please fix your signature[change | change source]

Simple talk is all red after your sig (in the Adminship section). Would be nice if you could fix it (close the html tags in the same order as you open them a-b-c...c-b-a.--Eptalon (talk) 11:24, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

I don't understand, it hasn't ever done this before. I'm not very good with signatures, do you know someone who is?Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 11:42, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
I have fixed your signature for you (there was a leftover </small> tag in there). Hope you don't mind. Chenzw  Talk  11:44, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks a lot. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 11:46, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
No problem! :D --Chenzw  Talk  11:52, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
You were also missing a /font tag and the order got a little screwing in the middle there. These have also been taken care of. --Creol(talk) 12:13, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
Ok, but I still don't understand as it never did anything wrong before. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 12:16, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
Wikipedia is always changing. This is not just the information, but the software itself. Many minor tweaks are constantly going on in the background which we almost never see. Something got shifted which caused something else to be extremely literal in reading your html tags.. and the world turned red because a font tag was not closed. Hopefully by fully closing everything, and getting them all in the correct order this should not be a problem in the future. --Creol(talk) 12:35, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
ok, thanks. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 12:40, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

RfA Thankspam[change | change source]

Yottie/Archive two, thanks for your comments in my recent RfA which closed as 12/11 or "no consensus". I hope to work on the things that were raised and prove to the community that I am worthy of the mop, this includes showing my RL stability, that I do not have Ownership issues with DYK and also showing that I know what consensus is. Special thanks go to Kennedy for nominating me! Thanks for your comments! GoblinBot3 (talk)

Barnstar[change | change source]

The Barnstar of Diligence
The Barnstar of Diligence may be awarded in recognition of a combination of extraordinary scrutiny, precision and community service. You did the right thing. It showed courage, an selflessness. I knew you had it in you. The road back will be hard, but once it has been completed, it will bring new meaning. Remember that. Synergy 23:05, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

RFA[change | change source]

Its a shame you had to resign your bit after a misunderstanding. Keep your head up. You do good work! Kennedy (talk) 10:54, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Indeed. Reapplication in a month or two should be no issue for you. We still care. :) PeterSymonds (talk) 10:56, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks you both. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 17:04, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

I hope to see your good work for this Wikipedia to continue so that I can support a future RfA request. Cheers, Razorflame 17:07, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Personally I think it's B.S. that you were demoted on that RFA, cause there were more supports therefore community consensus leaned towards you staying an admin, I volunteer to renominate you in a month or two.-- † CM16 t c r 08:36, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Hope you don't mind...[change | change source]

Hi there. Hope you do not mind that I removed the admin template from your userpage for you. It took me a while to find it. Cheers, Razorflame 17:11, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

No problem. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 17:13, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Let me know if you need any help with anything! Cheers, Razorflame 17:14, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I will. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 17:17, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
I've also removed your admin userbox, to let you know. Is that fine with you? - Æåm Fætsøn /ˈaɪæm ˈfætsən/ 08:39, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Don't forget the categorize the articles that you create :). Also, we have a stub type of articles about France: {{france-stub}}.  :). Cheers, Razorflame 17:36, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I'd forgotten (I'm not really supposed to be creating communes, but I'm working on the bastide article. Thanks, Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 17:38, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
No, you are allowed to make communes by hand, just not using a bot, and no problems, I've already gone through the communes that you've created and added in the correct categories and stub types. Cheers, Razorflame 17:40, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the cats, etc. Creol and Djsasso have even opposed me making them by hand, so it's a disputed matter. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 17:45, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Creol is no longer active here, so his opinion on the matter can probably be thrown out. Personally, I wouldn't care if you were to create them by hand, just so long as the correct categories and stub types were used ;). Also, if you were to include a link to the English Wikipedia article in your edit summary, you wouldn't have to use the en:wp based template because you would automatically satisfy the GFDL doing that.

Just type in Start stub based on [[:en:<insert article name here>]] or some derivative of that. That satisfies the GFDL for that article. Cheers, Razorflame 17:51, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Djsasso can't tell you not to make an article unless it's only been vandalism, which you're not doing.-- † CM16 t c r 08:39, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 11:55, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Ok, it has an rfd, but it's an obvious fake. Thanks, Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 14:46, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Just checked WP:QD again. It has to go through AFD, unfortunately. I was going to do it under G3 vandalism, but hoaxes are covered under what is not a QD fr33kman talk 14:51, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Ok, no problem. Just let it go through RfD. Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 14:52, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Bastide[change | change source]

Hello Yotcmdr. I´ve left some comments on the talk page of the Bastide article. I´m sorry I didn´t have time to review it sufficiently before now, I seem to have found quite a few things I think need to be fixed before I can support it as a good article... Hey dude,

Hows the exchange thing going? Anyway, I think it's just about ready to go, minus a couple of refs and red links. What do you think? I've asked about readability from some of our non-native readers (barras for example) and they say that they can understand it ok.

What do you think? GA ready?

Cheers,
