Minor change[change source]

Several in the "will not change" section do need a change. It is a minor change, but still a change. They are split between Municipality of and Municipality in. The ofs would need to be shifted to ins. --Creol(talk) 13:11, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I see that. I listed them as not changing because the term municipality would not change. I see changing of to in as a separate issue, not part of my proposed change. --Auntof6 (talk) 15:50, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I also wouldn't change the Municipalities in Canada and the one about Quebec because municipality is a specific meaning in Canada and those categories are about municipalities. -DJSasso (talk) 16:58, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I included Category:Former municipalities in Quebec because the only article in it is for a city. I included Category:Municipalities in Canada because it contains categories for towns and cities and an entry for a village. I'd see no problem with having those categories if the contents were described as municipalities.
I also see that these categories are under Category:Populated places in Canada, but I don't see anything identifying the contents as municipalities (other than being in a category called "municipalities"). --Auntof6 (talk) 17:58, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In Canada a municipality is any form of local government of any type (ie towns, cities, rural municipalities). Its not a huge deal to change it, just thought I would mention it. But you are right it is almost parallel to the Populated places category. I think I had used both because things like provinces could fall under populated places etc which are a higher level of government than municipalities. The equivalent of states in the US. :) But likely we have both due to not finishing the cleanup of this type of categories that I had started. -DJSasso (talk) 18:05, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
