@PotsdamLamb: Before I do anything with this, was there a consensus to remove the template? The documentation on it says, "This template is blanked out until a time where it is supported here." That implies that it may be supported in the future, and that it can be left so that it will be in place on some articles at that time. It also says not to use it here, but that can be taken to mean not to add it to anything new, not necessarily to remove it where it's already in use. These are coming over with new articles that editors are creating (besides older ones). I have seen editors and admins alike inform users that we do not use them here. When I bring things over or I am looking at new pages, I remove it. I remember being told a couple of times, including once by you, that we do not use them here. Yes, I think it would be OK to do formatting if you don't change any words or context. And it's always OK to add the unsigned template -- just please be sure to 1) substitute the template and 2) use the template parameters that add both the user name (or IP) and the date/time. Sandbox (video game)[change source]

I noticed you deleted this earlier today (April 12, 2024) and it was recreated. It was stated as non-notable. Problem I see is ENWP has the same article w:Sandbox (video game) that has been there May 15, 2020. It did go through a lot of changes, including discussions to redirect. I was thinking of nominating, however, I wanted to know if you wanted me to do anything or if you would handle it. Please do let me know. Bots[change source]

BTW, I noticed we have a bot that handles disambiguation links and double redirects. We also have a bunch of redundant bots. But this one should help you out a lot.

  1. User:RussBot Double redirects and manual disambiguation (Looks like it runs once a week, but I do not see it working or logging on any disambs.

Maybe you can reach out to them and see if they can generate a list for you and put it someplace for you to work on it.

And since I am here, I wanted to inform you of something else WMF is working on to help editors add value added articles to the project.

  1. With in the mentee module, they will have tasks to complete that are pretty basic such as references, wikilinking, spelling, grammar.
  2. This is the other one they are working on: Edit check. It seems to have some nice features and retainment of editors.

@PotsdamLamb: Thanks, although I'm not looking to do any mass disambiguating at the moment. When I do, I usually do fine with popups or AWB's disambiguation feature because I'm working with only one dab page at a time.
I knew we had a bot at one time that fixed double redirects. I don't think I knew of one that did disambiguating. I don't know that a bot could do that properly. -- Auntof6 (talk) 09:54, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It’s manual. It basically can do one of two things. It can be run via the console for the owner and they can pick the page it should go to or they can get a list created of the page with the possibilities for it. Like I have a script that if an article is not linked to wikidata it searches through all objects looking for where the title is mentioned and then presents me options to select one. If one is available it asks me if I want to make one. Typically I don’t make a new one because if the article is not notable then the object is determined out of scope of the project. There are several things you do when you close an RFD, none of which are the things you did. Although you probably won't like this, it's usually best to let an admin close them.
And if you're going to withdraw a request just to do an immediate QD, just leave the RFD open and it can be closed if/when the QD is done. -- Auntof6 (talk) 06:00, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I know there should be an RfD box on the talk page, but since it was done by a block evader I didn't want to do it because it would just be deleted anyways.

AWB Skills[change source]

Hello - I have figured out how to bring the count down in Category:Pages using infobox television with unknown parameters (1,371 pages). The following parameters were removed from the {{Infobox television}} (see this portion here):

Please remove

  • picture_format
  • website
  • audio_format
  • distributor
  • website_title
  • production_website
  • production_website_title
  • distributor
  • preceded_by
  • followed_by

Please change Chronology to related

Mass-moving of pages in a category[change source]

Hello, @Auntof6, we have a couple of duplicate categories: Category:Singlechart usages and Category:Single chart usages. Both cats have over 100 pages. Could you please assist in mass-moving pages from Category:Singlechart usages to Category:Single chart usages and redirect it? @Auntof6, That sounds like a reasonable approach. Most subcats in Singlechart usages are empty. I think it'd be better to redirect those (or possibly delete them) to the corresponding ones in Category:Single chart usages. Categories' names should be consistent with the parent template/Page, here Template:Single chart. These cats were deleted on EnWiki for the same reason (en:wp:Categories for discussion/Log/2022 November 9#Category:Singlechart called without song). – Cyber.Eyes2005Talk 21:50, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

New category for project[change source]

Hi! As you are the master of categories, I wanted to get a recommendation from you for my project, named by Darkfrog24 Total Backlog Annihilation. The only requirements are:

  1. Easy for editors to do that do not need complex writing of anything.
  2. Does not exceed 100 pages in the category

These requirements are only because the project does not only move slow, but because on the last one, I had many editors participate that are new to SEWP. The category we did was using this special link and we knocked it down to less than 20 from over 300 pages in a couple of days and allowed us to QD a lot of non-sense and such articles. Ok this one is  Done! Some took more work than others. A lot of them were because there was a template that used a date we didn’t have a date for like use Canadian English date January 2013 so my fixes were either change the date to a category we had or if I didn’t have enough to create a category I just removed it. I also discovered some other issues like an IP vandalizing a widely used template that caused a ton of articles to end up in an error cat that caught my attention. Took me an hour to figure out what was calling a non-existent module but I found it and fixed it so that cat is back down to normal levels. If you need anything else, please let me know. I found two articles I need to give more help to but I’ll do them later. I’m done for the night. Thanks for the category recommendation. @PotsdamLamb: Yes. Otherwise we would be constantly changing dates on maintenance templates. There's no problem having maintenance categories with fewer than 3 entries. @PotsdamLamb: How about Category:Articles with broken file links (currently at 140 entries)? Those are mostly articles brought from enwiki that use files stored on enwiki. That IP[change source]

They just got off two back to back blocks. They are that famous Pakistani pushed from England. See User talk:DannyS712#Sorry as no action was taken including the fact the IP went and tagged a bunch of articles related to rights, lesbians and homosexuals with my name for QD. dear admin I today found out that some articles literature belonging to Sindh. is getting deleted here on simple wiki. also subjects were very much notable in Sindh and Middle East with its sources being very straight. I wonder how it was deleted with discussion not being enough on AfD. I also understanding the difficulty to understand non English sources. can you please give your precious time to check it out about that ? article names were like 'Allamah Sayyid Ihsanullah Shah Rashdi' a prominent religious scholar and Khilafatist hailing from Sindh he had millions of religious followers and his steps had a deep impression on muslims of sub continent and arabia. second article was named also a freedom fighter of India who fought colonialism got into prison for years Gandhi gave him loud support etc.
how do I list names in deletion for review I'm new here its quite difficult but watching youtube videos helps me
