Hello, Kimberly Ashton, and welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia! I hope you are happy editing here and being a Wikipedian. Some helpful pages to start you off are Wikipedia:Useful, Help:Contents and Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines.

If you want to meet and talk with other members, you can visit our version of the "village pump" at Wikipedia:Simple talk. Just remember that you should sign your messages on Talk pages by typing "~~~~" (four tildes) at the end of your words.

We have a special page that describes how to write Simple English articles. If you want some ideas of which pages to work on, read Wikipedia:Requested articles or the list of wanted pages.

We are also focusing on core articles until this Wikipedia grows. This list of topics will help show the types of topics we want most.

Even though it is a good idea to research an article (like looking at the discussion page) before making large changes, do not be afraid to be bold! Any changes you make that are not perfect can be fixed later.

If you need any help, send a message to an administrator on his or her talk page. Administrators on Wikipedia will try to help you with your problems and resolve them as soon as possible.

Finally, if you have any questions on how things work, don't hesitate to ask me. The best way to do that is to leave a message on my talk page. Good luck and happy editing!--vector ^_^ (talk) 05:45, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It seems I reverted the article you wanted reverting on my patrol. Don't worry, you don't need to type everything again :). To revert an article click on the history tab next to the "change this page" link, and then click on the time of the version you want to revert to. Click on edit when viewing the old article, and you'll get a warning about editing a previous version. Type rv or revert or something in the edit summary box and click save. Voila! T. Moitie - Talk - Esperanza 00:20, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the lovely message. :) Hablo un poco español, pero no necesitas enseñarme. :) T. Moitie - Talk - Esperanza 00:23, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well I'm from Britain and my step mother can talk Spanish learnt in Spain. The (little) language that I learnt was all directly Spanish from Spain. Unfortunately I'm not very good. :) The article is good, keep up the good work! T. Moitie - Talk - Esperanza 23:10, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh god! That's terrible! I'm so sorry I bought that up for you, I really am. T. Moitie - Talk - Esperanza 23:35, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Any user can apply at any time to become an administrator, however most users will not support an applicant unless they have three months experience on Simple English Wikipedia and over 500 to 1000 edits. ;-) --vector ^_^ (talk) 07:40, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stopping vandals[change source]

I do not really know what vandal you are talking about, I have had like 3 in the last half hour. Usually, after 3 failed attempts (vandal1-3) I put them up at the pillory. (Wikipedia:Vandalism in progress). Also what I found that seem to make thenm think is when you replace one of their newly created vandalised pages, with a legitimate content stub. :)

Do not count on me for very much longer though, I am in Europe, and need to get up early tomrrow. -- Eptalon 23:46, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, user 71 (etc). To be honest, I very rarely look at the actual content the vandal puts on. To me the act of vandalism is more the problem of replacing a legitimate content page, where there has been a lot of work, possibly (in my case, eg Condom,Berlin wall, Cider, and Rat) with some nonsense someone came up with in 5 minutes. Please do not take the contents a vandal puts on seriously, it will only hurt you. -- Eptalon 23:55, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I use the New changes tool (on the left). And with (currently) 4018 edits to 1835 pages, quite a few are on my watchlist. Besides, most vandalisdm comes from IP addresses. So, a lone edit from an IP adress can be worth a look. And then its history, select second newest version, edit, put rvt, or revert, or so, in the changes box, and there ya go. Its not magic -- Eptalon 00:04, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I can see User:Netoholic (bureaucrat here) has done that. I am only a user here, I have no more power than you do. :) -- Eptalon 00:29, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed your concerned about stopping vandals? Have you noticed Anita936? ForestH2 00:10, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A sock of her User:Anita9361 rocks is now vandalizing too. ForestH2 00:14, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tons. ForestH2 00:22, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your request for adminship[change source]

Hello, I think you should retract the request. Try again, when your edit count is a bit higher than 52 edits on 20 pages (your is here). Get to know how things work, get like 750 edits, and try again. Also, a text would be helpful... -- Eptalon 00:46, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your Request for adminship[change source]

Hello, dear Kimberly. It's nice to know you here. I understand that you are trying to run for adminship. I have a little piece of advice that I want to share with you and I hope to sink in not just through information, but through application too. You see, administrators are highly trusted users. They dedicate their extra time here. They must have been through a lot, in terms of edits and making friends with other users or solving problems. Unfortunately, you have only been her for a short while. Well, it's not really that fair if we op you because you still need to show us what you're capable of. You have the potential. Now put it to action. Then, come back for another try and I will support you. By the way I'm also 14 this year, Kimberly. All the best, dear.-- Tdxiang@ 09:59, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trolls[change source]

This troll, as I understand, dear Kimberly, has been blanking your page repeatedly. I tell you, dear friend, just leave it alone. Why? The reason: Trolls just want attention. Starve them off attention. Don't let them get what they want (attention), okay? Remember that. Good luck and best regards from Tdxiang@--10:06, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • This is another example, dear Kimberly. Now, please, I'm not picking on you, dear. I'm just advisiong you not to sound so angry. Vandals may disrupt, but be nice to them, still. Retaliation is not effective on trolls. Not at all.

I just want you to know, dear friend. Good luck.-- Tdxiang@ 10:09, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hola Kimberly[change source]

Solo estoy intentando a mejorarla.

Sinceramente, --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 21:02, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Another one[change source]

We seemed to have another vandal, blanking pages. ForestH2 00:27, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think I'm ready to become an admin here yet from my contributions? ForestH2 00:34, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just some advice... The reason you are being targeted by the Anita vandal is because you react the most when your page is blanked. Just revert it and ignore the person. She has also included your name in her sockpuppets, showing that she approves of your reaction and wants more. PullToOpen π/φ 01:13, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, I'm not an administrator. Next time you see or the target of a vandal, put it on the WP:VIP page. There it will be delt with eventually by an administrator if need be. PullToOpen π/φ 20:48, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for warning this user about their vandalism on the Shit article. If you have any more trouble from them, please drop me a note and I will block them for a few days. Billz (Talk) 06:13, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A spelling error on your status template[change source]

User:Kimberly Ashton/Status/On had a spelling error on it, it said "swing bye" when it should have said "swing by". I corrected it for you, I hope you don't mind. J Di 16:25, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Kimmy. Yes, I am the SAME AGE as you! Glad to know you've heeded my advice. :)-- Tdxiang@ 10:12, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Huh? What are you a fan of and how did you know i existed? Icelandic Hurricane 22:08, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reverters' Patrol[change source]

That's really neat, Kimberly! :D But don't be too harsh on vandals. Remember, they are humans. Treat them fairly, okay? Good luck!-- Tdxiang@ 10:14, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anita[change source]

Just curious,Kimmy. Do you personally know who this Anita character is? :) -- Tdxiang @ 09:55, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship for me?[change source]

Hello again, Kimmy. You asked me to consider running for adminship. I'm not really prepared for it now as I have only 400+ edits in Simple. Perhaps next time... we will see... :) -- Tdxiang @ 03:22, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warning[change source]

I know that accounts of yours have been blocked on other projects due to some questions about whether you are a "real person" with this name. I am willing to give you some benefit of the doubt, but you must immediately follow these guidelines.

  1. Remove all personal information about yourself - pictures, where you live, etc. - from all pages you've created. You are banned from adding that information back without specific permission in the future from an administrator.
  2. You will email me immediately with a new username which does not have your full name as part of it. Email me it but do not create it yourself, because I can rename your account to that. The same goes for your step-brother User:Insert name here.
  3. You will concentrate on improving our articles, not socialize with other members too much. If you do, I will warn you and then block you for longer periods of time.

If you follow these rules, you can stay and help us write a Simple encyclopedia. If not, then I will ban you and delete all of your user pages. -- Netoholic @ 06:47, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • It is shocking to realise that such an incident is happening. Listen here, Kimberly. If you're clicking on the email option and realise you cannot do so, please, listen very carefully as I teach you how to.
  1. Go to your preferences page.
  2. See user profile.
  3. Type your email address in the box.
  4. A verification letter will be sent to your email address shortly.
  5. When it is sent to you, click on the link...and...
  6. Done! Your email is verified. One last thing, do not forget to click on the "enable email from other users" box, or the admins cannot help you.
Kimmy, I really don't wish to see you in this state, but for the sake of improving on articles, if you really want to help us, do as you are told. I shall see you soon.

Sockpuppetery[change source]

With regards to this notice, followed by a CheckUser and a steward block, it was said that you have been abusively using sockpuppets both in here and in the English Wikipedia. If you have any doubts or queries, just drop a line. Thank you. :)-- Tdxiang 09:54, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Final warning[change source]

Hello Kimberly,

Netoholic is no longer a bureaucrat, he has been replaced by me and User:Blockinblox. However, Netoholic's plan still stands. You must now confirm your email address and email me with a new username if you wish to continue contributing, and remove all personal information from all pages. Unless you contact me within the next few days, admins here will remove it for you and block this account. Please use my talk page if you have any questions. Archer7 - talk 19:55, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Currently I am runing to become a sysop. The main reason why I want to become one is to better help in the war against vandalism, I believe in tougher blocks against vandals and after the 2 time they vandaliz an article I will impose a ban on them. I have a lot of free time so I will be a active sysop. At one point I had a average of 50 edits a day, now I have a average of 30 because I was busy and not able to edit. If you have any questions ask me on my talk page please. to vote go to Wikipedia:Administrators. Have a nice week and god bless.--Sir James Paul 21:05, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
