@PotsdamLamb: It can make it harder for the admins to do their job when people keep pointing out the things they want done right now! There's such a thing as a flow of work, and if that gets interrupted things can get dropped.

Earlier today you thanked me for closing a bunch of RFDs. The reason I could do that is that 1) I had a chunk of time before I had to be in a meeting and 2) no one interrupted me to ask me to do something else just because they saw that I was online. If I had gotten interrupted, I wouldn't have been able to close as many as I did at the time.

If something is really urgent, then ask directly if you need to. Otherwise, please use the processes and let them work even if things aren't getting done as soon as you -- or any of us -- would like. Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 10:29, 12 April 2024 (UTC)

Constant Vinay K Srivastava creation

I brought this up a few days ago but removed it from ANI because I thought it stopped but the article Vinay K Srivastava has been consistently created by multiple different sockpuppets and IPs. SEO articles

Hi, I am not at home in this Wikipedia, so I am not quite sure if this is the right place to bring this to your attention.

There is an article that has been added to the German, the Spanish, and the Simple English Wikipedia today, about a singer named Praise Ukachukwu Mba. The Spanish Wikipedia has already put a big tag "self-promotion" over the article, and I assume the German one will follow.

Now on the Simple English Wikipedia, the user has also added an article about this guy's company named Brandskon which was founded just now in March of 2024. I don't see the slightest chance that this company is notable.

What I don't like about the whole thing is this: Why don't they even try to put these articles in the English Wikipedia? Because they know they wouldn't stand a chance. But having an article on Simple English Wikipedia I am sure is just as good for SEO.

@Kk.urban A G5 could apply, however, the user is not blocked. So a rev del of all the changes should be performed. I do not believe we typically delete a user page or talk page unless asked for by the editor themselves or it is a banned/evader account. Mentors

Hi per this conversation with a WMF staffer 250k pages, can an admin turn on the mentor features please? I think it will be a great help to all the newcomers plus it will alert us to all of their changes so we can monitor to ensure articles are being created correctly and not just toss up a little sentence and call it a day.

@PotsdamLamb: We would need consensus to implement these features here first. As someone who registered as a mentor, I had assumed it was already enabled as people had started registering. Regarding the mentor dashboard itself, speaking as an enwiki mentor, it is helpful in looking through users who you have mentored, but mentors don't get alerted to all changes newcomers make. --Ferien (talk) 13:11, 13 April 2024 (UTC)

Issues with User:BigKrow

The user is creating a lot of short (and I mean short) articles and not creating them correctly. Instead of references they just add an external link. This is one such article out of many. Some I have moved to their userspace (and notified them of such) that I moved them so they can work on the articles and complete them to more than a one - two sentence article. I have also posted on their talk page about the issue. They have also received messages from other users on their talk page. This is not the first time this has happened. We have also had a lot of edit conflicts as they follow me around and when I am working on an article, they edit it right after my first edit and I have asked them to wait about 5 minutes to see if I make any other changes as I am tidying up articles and making sure they are formatted correctly, have the appropriate headings, everything I typically do. I will post a notice on the users talk page about this discussion. I am not quite sure what I can do, but perhaps admins can do something or say something that will work and get the editor back on track. Here is a list of everything they created and all the articles are the same. One to two sentences, not linked to wikidata, no cats, one external link, (possibly to be used as a ref). Update: Now I need to bring up a few other things that have developed:

1. User talk:Cyber.Eyes.2005#PotsdamLamb - Editor posted I “need to stop interfering” and was told to post on my talk page.
2. Talk:1999 Sydney hailstorm#PotsdamLamb telling me I "stop adding things to my drafts vybereyes helping me not you..." - Showing ownership and I’ve never touched the article which is in the main space. It was an article I moved to their user space due to the issues they are having with the creation of the articles (of which I moved the original to their user space so they could work on it) but they made a new article instead of moving it. Plus the article is just very basic (as I listed above 1999 Sydney hailstorm. They have received numerous warnings and conversations about the issues since they joined. I’m beginning to feel that they don’t quite yet understand how to create articles and the layout making them perhaps incompatible with our project. I improved the hailstorm article mentioned above by simplifying part of the enwiki article. I agree that these stubs are not acceptable, and should be improved or deleted. 3. Being asked and warned numerous times by editors and admins about how to create articles and stating ok then continuing to do so

Then add the two conversation I posted above in the update. This all amounts to not being able to collaborate and not mature enough to understand the basic concepts needed.

User:Futurolog21 canvassing

This user created an article that was put up for RfD and was successful. During the RfD, I noticed a couple of things that were off. Upon investigation, I found this user was canvassing to get people from their home wiki to come onto SEWP and vote to keep an article that had no notability. I know canvassing is not tolerated on ENWP. The RfD are is now closed as deleted. I would expect the article to be recreated based on how passionate this editor was about keeping it and even quoting relative parts of policy (but not quoting ones against what they were doing. The RfD is at Wikipedia:Requests_for_deletion/Requests/2024/Lady_Slim for an admin to look and see the log I posted.. The page was semi-protected on March 30 through April 6 and it did pretty much stop them. I would love a full lock as this is one of the more determined petty/self-promotional LTA's I've seen.
