Wikipedia is turning 10 on January 15th! Events are being planned worldwide with free commemorative merchandise available. See the Wikipedia 10 wiki for more info. It's hard to imagine what the world would have been like without Wikipedia... a very dull world. Everyone is entitled to a good education and to have information readily available, that's Wikipedia's goal and that's what's been done for the past 10 years, with more multilingual projects opening their doors and expanding.
Wikipedia, its sister projects and the Wikimedia Foundation bring to the world, free knowledge accessible by everyone, for everyone and contributed to by everyone. That's what sets us apart from every other encyclopedia. Were it not for the community, we would not have such a large repository, or collection if you will, of knowledge and the world would still be using boring out-of-date encyclopedias, which sets us apart because if you see something wrong or inaccurate you can just edit it, whereas in Encyclopedia Brittanica you can't... well you can use liquid paper but once an issue is published that's it, no more corrections.
