Talk:International Phonetic Alphabet

I would like to create a WikiProject for articles relating to phonetics, to create, expand, and improve phonetic articles to build a better web-based encyclopædia. There is one called "WikiProject Phonetics" on The English Wikipedia, so I would think it would be a good idea to have on on SEW. SEW does not even have articles on sounds that are quite common (such as voiced bilabial plosive, b) and we, as an online community, need to expand our encyclopædia. Please list your name here if you would like to join:(do not forget a line break [<br>] after your username.

International Phonetic Alphabet[change source]

International Phonetic Alphabet is an effort by the International Phonetics Association to provide a set of symbols for use in recording the world's language that follow the basic principle of one sound = one symbol and one symbol = one sound. To qualify as a new symbol, a sound must be distinctive in one of the world's human languages and not be covered by another symbol. --Ammbaania 15:05, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Generalize groups of similar phonemes to elementary sounds-signs of speech-thinking[change source]

There is a proposal to reduce groups of similar so-called phonemes of all languages to the corresponding specific elementary sound-the sign of speech-thinking. There are 29 elementary consonant and vowel sounds-signs of speech-thinking, having an individual sound. Plus 28 combinations of simultaneous palatalized production of 28 elementary consonants and vowel sounds-signs of speech-thinking with an elementary consonant palatalizer-iota.
