1997–98 El Niño event

In 1997–1998, an incredibly strong El Niño took place all over the world. The damage caused through this event totaled $30 billion to almost $98 billion overall.[1] There were massive droughts, widespread floods and natural other disasters.[2]

This El Niño was the strongest such event in the recorded history of the world. Almost all the warmings with this El Niño took place in the Eastern Pacific at South America.
