On 18 January 2025, a fuel tanker carrying roughly 60,000 liters of petrol turned over near Suleja, Niger State, northern Nigeria and crashed. While civilians rushed to the scene to collect the spilled fuel, it quickly caused an explosion which killed 98 people and injured another 69, including at least 52 critically.[1]
