2099 (MMXCVIII) is a common year starting on Thursday of the Gregorian calendar. It is the 2099th year of the Anno Domini calendar system and is the 9th year of the 2090s decade and the 99th year of the 21st Century. Futurist William James Fox predicts that 80% of the Amazon rainforest will have been lost.[1] NASA's climate and weather models predict that temperature and rainfall patterns will be very different from those seen at the beginning of the century.[2]
