Aam Aadmi Party

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is a political party in India. The name means "Common Man's Party" in Hindi. It was started in 2012 by Arvind Kejriwal and his supporters. The party aims to fight corruption and make government services better for people.[1]

AAP was formed after the India Against Corruption movement led by Anna Hazare in 2011. Arvind Kejriwal and some others wanted to enter politics to fight corruption, so they started the party in November 2012.[2]

AAP first won many seats in the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections in 2013. Since then, the party has governed Delhi several times. Its main focus has been on improving schools, healthcare, electricity, and water services.[3]

AAP has participated in elections in Delhi, Punjab, and other states. In 2022, the party won the Punjab Legislative Assembly elections and formed the government there.[4]

Criticism

The party has faced criticism for its internal conflicts and decisions. Some leaders have left the party, and others have accused it of not delivering on all its promises.[5]
