Accelerating expansion of the universe
The observation of the Accelerating expansion of the universe has been known since 1998 when Saul Perlmutter and his crew at NASA discovered that distant galaxies were receding from the milky way galaxy at an ever increasing rate. Supernovas were used as "standard candles" to figure this out.
