Adani Group
Adani Group is an Indian company with many different businesses. It is based in Ahmedabad. The company was started by Gautam Adani in 1988.[1]
The Adani Group has also faced many controversies. Reports have accused the company of stock manipulation, accounting problems, exporting military drones to Israel during the Gaza war, political corruption, close ties with powerful leaders, tax evasion, harming the environment, filing lawsuits against journalists, and money laundering.[2]
History
[change | change source]Adani Exports Limited started in 1988 as a commodity trading company and later expanded into importing and exporting many different products. The company began with a small capital of ₹5 lakhs and was set up as a partnership firm. Its main company, Adani Enterprises, was earlier known as Adani Exports.[3]
In 1999, the company entered the coal trading business. In 2000, it formed a joint venture in edible oil refining, which led to the creation of Adani Wilmar.[4]
