The Africa Movie Academy Awards are an annual event that celebrates outstanding work in the African film industry the awards honor both African and non-African professionals who have helped the industry grow. Founded by Peace Anyiam-Osigwe and managed by the Africa Film Academy. The awards are considered one of Africa's most important film ceremonies,[1][2][3] and they are often called the "African Oscars".[4][5]
