The African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (Portuguese: Partieo Africano para a Indepenência da Guiné e Cabo Verde, PAIGC) is a political party in Guinea-Bissau. Henri Labéry made the party in 1956. At this time, Portugal controlled Guinea-Bissau. The party wanted Guinea-Bissau to be independent.[1]
