Alexa McDonough

Alexa Ann McDonough OC ONS (née Shaw; August 11, 1944 – January 15, 2022) was a Canadian politician. She was born in Ottawa, Ontario. She was a member of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly between 1981 until 1995. She was a member of the Parliament of Canada between 1997 until 2007. McDonough was the Leader of the New Democratic Party between 1995 until 2003.

McDonough died on January 15, 2022 in Halifax, Nova Scotia from problems caused by Alzheimer's disease at the age of 77.[1]
