Alisha Chinai (born 18 March 1965) is an Indian singer. She is known as the "Queen of Indipop".[1]

Alisha started her career in 1985 with her first album, Jadoo. In 1989, she released a famous album of Madonna songs translated into Hindi.[2]

She became very famous in Bollywood (the Indian movie industry) by working with composer Bappi Lahiri.[3] She sang hits for many famous movies like Adventures of Tarzan and Dance Dance.

In 1995, her career reached a new level of fame with the album Made in India. This album was produced by Biddu and became a massive hit across the country.[4]

One of her most famous movie songs is "Kajra Re" from the film Bunty Aur Babli (2005). This song won her a Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer.[5]

Personal life

Alisha was born in Ahmedabad. She was married to her manager, Rajesh Jhaveri, from 1986 until their divorce in 1994.[6]

In 2020, she began a relationship with Furkat Azamov, a music producer from Tajikistan who also works as her manager and songwriter.[6]
