Plot
[change | change source]After the events of the third film, Fievel's sister Tanya and his friend Tony start working for a local newspaper. Fievel has nightmares about mysterious attacks on mice in New York City. He believes a monster is taking mice away at night.
The Mousekewitz family and Tony meet Nellie Brie, a reporter who investigates corruption and injustice. Tony wants to become a reporter, but editor Reed Daley gives him simple jobs. Tanya works as Reed's secretary and has a crush on him. Fievel helps Nellie investigate the disappearances and draws pictures of the monster based on witnesses' stories.
Reed creates stories about a monster living under Manhattan to sell more newspapers. However, the disappearances are real. A small dog named Madame Mousey appears at the crime scenes and claims to be a fortune teller. She sells mice objects that she says will protect them from the monster.
Nellie, Fievel and Tony discover that Mousey is behind the attacks. She works with a gang of cats, who capture mice in the sewers and keep them in cages. The monster is actually a machine created by Mousey to frighten and capture the mice.
Mousey learns that the newspaper is going to expose her plan. She repairs the damaged machine and orders the cats to attack the newspaper office. She also attacks mice across the city. Fievel discovers that his family has disappeared and finds them trapped in the sewers with the other captured mice.
Fievel returns to the newspaper office for help. There, Mousey and her cats have trapped Nellie, Reed and Tanya. Fievel overcomes his fear of the monster and discovers that it is only a machine. He uses exposed electrical wires to stop Mousey, allowing the others to escape.
Tony floods the sewers with water, allowing the captured mice to escape. Tiger brings the dog council to the newspaper office, and the dogs chase away the cats and arrest Mousey.
At the beach, Tanya is still sad because Reed has fallen in love with Nellie. Fievel's father tells him that helping Nellie find the monster also helped him find courage. The dog council decides to return Mousey to her former owner instead of sending her to prison.
With the mystery solved, Fievel finally falls asleep beside his family. The Mousekewitz family, Tony and Tiger share a group hug and wish him sweet dreams.
