Antoine Joseph Emmanuel Bernède (born 26 May 1999) is a French professional footballer. He plays as a midfielder for Austrian Bundesliga club Red Bull Salzburg.[1]
Club career
[change | change source]Bernede began playing football at the age of eight with FC Solitaires Paris-Est. At 13 he was signed by the suburban club Paris Saint-Germain. At 17 he played for the club's U19 team in the UEFA Youth League and reached the final. In 2016, he was named the second-best player in the Paris youth academy. During the 2017/18 Ligue 1 season, he was twice included in the first-team squad but did not make an appearance. On 4 August 2018, he made his professional debut and won the French Super Cup with PSG. He was in the starting eleven for both the first and second matchdays of the 2018/19 season.
He left his hometown club in February 2019 and was sold to Austrian Bundesliga side FC Red Bull Salzburg. In the 2019/20 seasonhe missed a large part of the season due to injury. In total, he made 15 appearances in all competitions by the end of the season. After missing almost the entire autumn in the 2020-21 season due to injury, Bernede was a regular starter in the spring. Under Matthias Jaissle Bernede was used as a substitute .
In the 2022/23 season he he made two brief league appearances and not being included in the squad at all. He then moved on loan to Swiss second-division side FC Lausanne-Sport in January 2023. He made 17 appearances for Lausanne in the Challenge League. The team was promoted to the Super League at the end of the season. Following this success, he was signed permanently in June 2023 and received a contract in Switzerland running until 2026.
In early February 2025, Bernede moved on loan to Hellas Verona in Italy's Serie A for the remainder of the season. 2025 he was signed permanently by Verona.
