AppGrooves is an American software and analytics tools developer based in Mountain View, California.[3][4] AppGrooves is better known for developing SearchMan, an analytics service for mobile app developers.[5][6]

Services[change | change source]

In 2011, AppGrooves was founded by Niren Hiro and Naoki Shibata in Silicon Valley.[7][8][9] In 2012, the company released an analytics service called SearchMan, which was well received by mobile app developers.[2] In November 2013, the company had received initial funding from 500 Startups and Digital Garage.[10][11]

In 2018, the company launched, an online media website for consumers to find the best apps and games.[12][13]

Controversy[change | change source]

Niren Hiro and Naoki Shibata developed an app recommendation engine Hot Or Not, which was later removed by Apple from the App Store as it was competing directly against the App Store itself.[3][14][15]
