Area code 404

Area code 404 is an area code for Georgia. It was one of the first area codes created in October 1947. It covered the entire state until it was split by 912 in 1954, 706 in 1992,[1][2] and 770 in 1995. It now covers the Atlanta region of Georgia. It covers counties such as Clayton, DeKalb, Fulton, Cobb, Douglas, and Gwinnett counties. It was overlaid by 678 in 1998, 470 in 2001, and 943 on March 15, 2022.[3]
