Aryan Brotherhood
Not to be confused with the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas.
The Aryan Brotherhood is a neo-Nazi, white supremacist prison gang that operates across the United States.[1] The gang is known to be violent and powerful. In fact, it is the oldest, largest, and deadliest prison gang in the U.S.[1]
History
[change | change source]
The Aryan Brotherhood was formed in 1964 in California's San Quentin State Prison in California. Its first members were Irish immigrants who opposed prison de-segregation.[1]
Initiation
[change | change source]According to a 2011 book, the Aryan Brotherhood's motto was "blood in, blood out."[2] This meant a person had to bleed in order to join the gang, usually by way of a violent initiation process. If the person wanted to leave the gang, then they would have to bleed again.[2]
According to one source, new members have to go through a violent initiation process and commit murder before they are accepted into the gang.[3]
