Awa Coulibaly

Awa Gianna Coulibaly (born 6 March 1987) is an Italian rugby player, and judoka. She won the 2019 African Cadet Judo Championships.[1] She played for Stade Rennes rugby.

She was born in Bamako. Her father was an architect, and her mother was an interior decorator. She was raised from the age of three in Chieri, where she finished her secondary studies. She practiced various sports at school before devoting herself to rugby.

In 2005, she played for the Biella club, in Piedmont. In 2007, she joined the Orso Rugby Club ASD, in Biella. In 2011, she signed for AS Rugby Monza, Lombardy.[2]

She played for the Italian team A at the 2012 European Championship in Rovereto, and on November 18 in Rome in a test match against the United States. She played at the 2012 Women's Six Nations Championship, 2013 Women's Six Nations Championship,[3] 2014 Women's Six Nations Championship, and 2015 Women's Six Nations Championship.

In 2013, she was one of the first group of Italian players to play in France to gain more experience, at Rennes. She attended a local university.[4]
