Béla Tarr (21 July 1955 – 6 January 2026) was a Hungarian filmmaker. His best known movies were Damnation (1988), Sátántangó (1994), Werckmeister Harmonies (2000) and The Turin Horse (2011). His movies were seen as minimalist.[1]

Tarr died after a long-illness on 6 January 2026 in Budapest, Hungary at the age of 70.[2][3]
