Badiv (Ukrainian: Бадів; Hungarian: Badótanya; Rusyn: Бодов) is a village in Zakarpattia Oblast in western Ukraine.

History

Orthodox Church

There were no major villages in the area until the 1900s, except for Batiovo. The land was owned by the Lónyai family, and small farms on the estates led to today’s communities.

Most of the villages were created during Czechoslovak era. Back then, when large Hungarian estates were taken away, Czechoslovakia brought people here.

It returned to Hungary from 1938 to 1944. In 1945, it was annexed to the Soviet Union. Since 1991, it has been part of Ukraine.

Population

According to the 2001 census data, out of its 546 inhabitants, 4 were Hungarian and 542 Ukrainian.
