History
[change | change source]The first written record is from 1320, where it is called Bolk. Bolk is a personal name from Slavic roots, which changed to Bolyok through Hungarian naming. The area is on the flat land at the base of the Bükk hills, with the Hódos stream and Hangony stream running through it. After the village joined Ózd, the new city center was built here.[1]
The village had its own Jewish community.
