Canning Town is a district in the West Ham area of the London Borough of Newham in East London, England. It is situated in the area of the former Royal Docks on the north side of the River Thames. It is the location of Rathbone Market. Although it is near to many affluent London Docklands developments, Canning Town remains among the 5 per cent most deprived areas in the United Kingdom. Many long-term residents suffer from poor health, low education and poverty.
