On 14 December 2021, a fuel tank truck exploded in the Samari neighborhood of Cap-Haïtien,[1] the capital city of the Haitian department of Nord. It happened as people tried to steal fuel from the vehicle by using hammers to pierce it. The explosion caused a major fire.

At least 75 people were killed and more than 100 others were injured.
