Cast Away is a 2000 American adventure drama movie. It was produced by Tom Hanks, Jack Rapke, Steve Starkey and Robert Zemeckis. The movie was directed by Robert Zemeckis. It was released on December 22, 2000. The movie stars Tom Hanks as a FedEx employee who gets stuck on an uninhabited island after his plane crashes in the South Pacific.
The movie gained positive reviews from critics and holds a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.[2] At the 73rd Academy Awards, Hanks was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role but lost to Russell Crowe's performance in Gladiator.[3]
