When I originally created Characters from the Bible, I explicitely did it that way, because:

  • The Bible (Torah) is basically a literary work; you might call it fiction, even though this might hurt some people. It is extremely difficult to assess now if a certain character mentioned really lived, or whether it is simply a creation of those who wrote the book. For some characters it is easy to show they lived, because other people mention them as well; others (eg. Salome) are harder to prove
  • Some characters mentioned in the bible are not people; they are messengers (angels; Ancient Greek angelos -> mesenger) or they have been made to show corruption/temptation, etc. (satan)
  • Adam basically mean man in Hebrew.

For these reasons, I don't think we shold be talking about Biblical people...--Eptalon (talk) 05:54, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
