Central Ontario
Appearance

Central Ontario is part of Southern Ontario in the Canadian province of Ontario.[1] It is between Georgian Bay and the eastern end of Lake Ontario. Its area is 39,814 square kilometres (15,372 sq mi). The population was 1,070,644 in 2011.[needs update] It is mostly rural. The southern part is more densely populated than the northern part. Some of the largest cities include Peterborough, Barrie, and Belleville.
Counties
[change | change source]There are five counties in Central Ontario:
- Dufferin County
- Haliburton County
- Hastings County
- Northumberland County
- Peterborough County
- Simcoe County
- Prince Edward County is a single-tier municipality. Ten towns, villages and townships merged with the county.[2] The county government provides all services.
