Athapaththu Mudiyanselage Chamari Jayangani (born 9 February 1990) is a Sri Lankan international cricketer and the current captain of the Sri Lanka women's national cricket team.[1] She is considered the greatest female cricketer from Sri Lanka and holds the record for the most centuries for her country.
In 2023, she made history by becoming the first Sri Lankan woman to be named the ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year.[2]
Early life
[change | change source]Athapaththu was born in Kurunegala. She grew up in a family that supported her interest in sports. She started playing cricket seriously during her school years and eventually broke into the national side at the age of 19.
International career
[change | change source]Athapaththu made her debut in 2009. She is known for her aggressive batting at the top of the order.
WODI Career
[change | change source]In April 2024, she scored a career-best 195 not out against South Africa. This is the third-highest score ever in Women's One Day Internationals (WODI).[3]
On 20 October 2025, she became the first Sri Lankan woman to reach '4,000 runs in WODIs.[4]
WT20I Career
[change | change source]Athapaththu is the only Sri Lankan woman to score a century in T20 Internationals. She has scored three T20I centuries, including a high score of 119* against Malaysia in 2024.

[change | change source]Athapaththu is a popular player in global T20 leagues:

- WBBL (Australia): She has played for several teams, including the Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers.
