Chief information officer

A Chief Information Officer (CIO for short) is the most senior job title given to the person in a company responsible for IT and computer systems within the business.

For example, this might include setting the IT strategy, managing IT budgets and looking after all technology used by the company. The role is a leadership position, meaning that the CIO will also often play a role in decisions that affect the whole company and its strategy.
