Condescension

Condescension and condescendence are words that refer to when somebody displays an attitude for contempt toward, hatred of or being strongly more important than everybody else. There are negative connotations with being condescending.[1]

The modern reference to condescension

Before the Victorian era, condescension meant when someone of an upper social class spoke in a simpler way with those of a lower social class. The modern meaning refers to the act of being patronizing and superior against other people.[2]
