Cydia is a program made for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch that lets users create, distribute, and download various applications for free, which would not be allowed to be downloaded on the Apple App Store. Cydia was created and developed by Jay Freeman (Saurik). Cydia is used on "jailbroken" iPhones or iPod Touch devices, normally for visual personalization or tweaks.

Cydia is often thought to be illegal, but according to Apple's Terms of Use and Terms of Services, it is not. Many people have jailbroken their iPhones and iPod Touches with positive effects.

People who jailbreak lose Apple's 1 year warranty and can not get a new device if it is broken.
