Darren Stanley Hayes (born 8 May 1972) is an Australian singer-songwriter. He was born in Brisbane. He was the singer of Savage Garden. Savage Garden released two albums before they broke up in 2001. In January 2002 Hayes released his first solo single "Insatiable". His first solo album, Spin, was released in April 2002. It has sold over 5 million copies.[source?]

In 1993 Hayes joined Savage Garden. In 1997 the band released Savage Garden. Eight singles were released from the album. In 1999 Savage Garden's second and last studio album, Affirmation, was released. In 2002 Hayes' first solo album Spin was released. In 2004 The Tension and the Spark was released. In 2007 Hayes released his third album This Delicate Thing We've Made on his own record label, Powdered Sugar. In 2009 he released his fourth album We Are Smug. In 2011 Secret Codes and Battleships was released.

In 2006 Hayes came out as gay.[1]
