Daytime television

Daytime television is a daypart that runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. It is after a breakfast/morning show program and before the early fringe of primetime.

This programming block features game shows like Let's Make a Deal and The Price is Right, soap operas like The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital, and Days of Our Lives, and talk shows like The Talk, The Doctors and Dr. Phil. Some local affiliates air their local newscasts at noon Eastern Time and 11:00 a.m. Central Time.
