Dhaka Central University is a public federal research university in Bangladesh. It was formed by combining seven government colleges that were previously affiliated with the University of Dhaka.[1] On 22 January 2026, the Advisory Council approved the Dhaka Central University Ordinance, 2026.[2] The ordinance was issued and published in the official gazette on 8 February 2026. After this, the university became the 57th public university and the 5th autonomous university in Bangladesh. Later, on 10 April 2026, it was approved as a bill by the National Parliament of Bangladesh.[3]
