Diana is a female given name. It is pronounced [ dahy-an-uh ].[1]It has ranked among the top 200 female names in the United States since the 1930s.This name was ranked #225 on the US Popular Names in 2021.[2] Originating from Latin, the moniker Diana is linked to the Roman goddess of the hunt and the moon. Moreover, it is connected to the Latin term "divine," conveying the sense of being "heavenly" or "godly."[3] Famous Dianas include the singer Diana Ross, Princess Diana and a Roman goddess who is named Diana. The name was also used for two hurricanes in the Atlantic in 1984 and 1990. The 1990 storm hit eastern Mexico. It caused more than 100 deaths. The name Diana was then retired.
