Don Grimes

Donald James Grimes AO (born 4 October 1937) is an Australian politician, diplomat and doctor. He is a member of the Labor Party. He was a Senator for Tasmania from 1974 to 1987. He served as a minister in the Hawke Government as Minister for Social Security (1983–1984) and Minister for Community Services (1984–1987). He also served as Australian Ambassador to the Netherlands from 1987 to 1991.

Grimes was born in Albury, New South Wales. He married Margaret Schofield in 1960. The couple had four children.[1]
