Doris Duke

Doris Duke (November 22, 1912 — October 28, 1993) was an American heiress, philanthropist and billionaire. She was the daughter of a rich tobacco tycoon.

Duke created many elaborately-themed gardens. Much of her work was centered in New Jersey.

Duke was born in New York City. She lived in many other places, including Rhode Island. She died at 80 of pulmonary edema in Beverly Hills, California. Duke was then cremated.
