Edna is a city in Labette County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, 388 people lived there.[3]

The first store in Edna was opened in 1876.[4] The first post office in Edna was founded in April 1878.[5] The town of Edna was platted in the summer of 1886 when the railroad was extended to that point.[6]

Edna was named in 1876 for a child, Edna Gragory.[7]

Edna is at 37°3′31″N 95°21′33″W / 37.05861°N 95.35917°W / 37.05861; -95.35917 (37.058485, -95.359175).

According to the United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.39 square miles (1.01 km2). All of it is land.[2]

Edna has hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system says that Edna has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[8]

2020 census[change | change source]

As of the 2020 census, there were 388 people, 153 households, and 101 families living in the city. Of the households, 77.1% owned their home and 22.9% rented their home.

The median age was 41.3 years. Of the people, 82.2% were White, 5.7% were Native American, 0.5% were Black, and 11.6% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.3% of the people.[3][9]

2010 census[change | change source]

As of the 2010 census says that there were 442 people, 183 households, and 122 families living in the city.[10]

Education[change | change source]

Edna is served by USD 506 Labette County.[11]

Edna High School was closed through school unification. The Edna High School mascot was Pirates.[12]
