The building is located at 1038 Canada Place in Downtown Vancouver in the Coal Harbour neighbourhood. It is right beside the Shaw Tower. It was opened just over a week before the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The first 22 floors make up a hotel, with the rest of the floors being condominiums.

On July 13, 2013, Glee star Cory Monteith, aged 31, was found dead in his room on the 21st floor.[1]

The hotel occupies the first 22 floors of the 44 storey building.

This is the fourth Fairmont Hotel in the Vancouver Metropolitan Area.

In 2007, the condominiums were pre-sold at a price of $2,100 per square foot one of the highest in Canada at the time.[2]
