Fano is a city and comune of the province of Pesaro and Urbino in the Marche region, central Italy.
It is a beach resort 12 kilometres (7 miles) southeast of Pesaro, along the Adriatic Sea. It is the third city in the region by population after Ancona and Pesaro.
Geography
[change | change source]Fano is on the coast of the Adriatic Sea. The comune of Fano has an area of 121.84 km2 (47.04 sq mi) and its altitude is 12 m (39 ft) above sea level.[2]
Fano borders with the comuni Cartoceto, Mombaroccio, Mondolfo, Pesaro, San Costanzo and Terre Roveresche.[4]
