Deutsch: Ein Stempel des Gemeinderates auf einem Schriftstück von 1908 zeigt einen aufrechten Bären, wie er schon um 1860 auf der Wappentafel der zürcherischen Hauptgemeinden des in Zürich tätigen Lithographen Johannes Krauer vorkam. Es ist nicht bekannt, ob der Bär lediglich den Dorfnamen erklären soll, oder ob man das Wappentier des einstigen Grundbesitzers, des Klosters St. Gallen, übernahm. Auf Empfehlung der Gemeindewappenkommission des Kantons Zürich bestätigte der Gemeinderat das Wappen am 31. Januar 1927. |
