  • Looking west, from near Montecito Peak, elevation approximately 3500' msl.
  • Vegetation in this area has not burned for approximately forty years (as of 2009).
  • Commonly known as "hard chaparral" due to dense stands of ceanothus, chamise, and scrub oak.
