Object history
Deutsch: Herbolzheim war seit Mitte des 13. Jahrhunderts bischöflich straßburgisches Lehen der Herren von Üsenberg, kam 1415 an Vorderösterreich und wurde nach dem Anfall an Baden (1805) im Jahre 1810 zur Stadt erhoben. Das älteste, 1520-1592 nachweisbare Siegel enthält bereits einen Wappenschild, der sich vom heutigen Wappen nur dadurch unterscheidet, dass im hinteren Feld allein eine gestürzte Pflugschar erscheint. Österreichischer Bindenschild und Üsenberger Flügel weisen auf die Herrschaftsverhältnisse hin, die Pflugschar ist das Fleckenzeichen Herbolzheims. 1606 ließ sich der Marktflecken vom Theologen und Hofpfalzgrafen Johann Pistorius d. J. das seither geführte Wappen verleihen, das durch das Adlermotiv eine Aufwertung erfuhr.
