Object history
Deutsch: Der Ort hieß ursprünglich Wallstadt, 1306 taucht erstmals die Bezeichnung Walstad episcopi auf, 1310 Walstad minor zur Unterscheidung von dem gleichnamigen Ort auf dem anderen Mainufer, nämlich Walstad regis oder Großwallstadt. Der Wachtturm weist auf den römischen Limes entlang des Mains zwischen Großwallstadt und Kleinwallstadt hin, der unter Kaiser Hadrian (117 bis 138) errichtet wurde. Das kleine Schildchen rechts ist das Wappen der Vocken von Wallstadt, die in Kleinwallstadt als Lehenträger und Vögte mindestens seit der Mitte des 14. Jahrhunderts belegt sind. Sie errichteten hier eine Burg. Die Vocken von Wallstadt starben 1624 aus. Das silberne Rad in rotem Feld, das so genannte Mainzer Rad, sowie die Farben Silber und Rot weisen auf die lange Beziehung zum Kurstaat Mainz hin. Der Ort kam unter Kaiser Heinrich II. (1002 bis 1024) an das Erzstift, das von 1278 bis zum Ende des Alten Reichs 1803 die Landesherrschaft innehatte.
