Deutsch: Das Wappen enthält das Stammwappen der Herren von Berg, einem Reichsministerialengeschlecht, das seit dem 12. Jahrhundert seine Burg im Gemeindegebiet hatte, von der heute nur noch der Turmhügel erhalten ist. Im Jahr 1279 schenkte Eberhardus de Hertingersberg dem Kloster St. Klara in Nürnberg seine Güter in Asbach. 1288 kamen weitere Besitzungen der Familie von Heinrich von dem Berge, einem Vetter des Eberhardus de Hertingersberg, an das Kloster. Oberasbach ist seit 1994 Stadt.
