Object history
Deutsch: Die gekreuzten Schlüssel, Attribut des heiligen Petrus, sind aus dem Wappen des Klosters Höglwörth übernommen, die als Grundherrschaft im Gemeindegebiet von Bedeutung war. Der Löwenkopf stammt aus dem Wappen des Hochstifts Salzburg und erinnert daran, dass Piding bis zur Eingliederung nach Bayern 1810 zum salzburgischen Pfleggericht Staufeneck gehörte. Das ehemalige Pfleggerichtsschloss Staufeneck befindet sich auf Gemeindegebiet; es war eine wichtige Grenzfeste für die Erzbischöfe von Salzburg.
